Got an 83% on my Organic final part I. I really wanted a grade in the 90’s. But 83% was still the high score for the class. Yeah! This is my second crack at Org II. First time was a disaster. But I had good company. About three-quarters of the class got a “D” or worse.

Totally loved it! Now I just need a way to down my popcorn and drink in 60 seconds too.

Anti-typecast movie
Posted in Uncategorized with tags ideas, movies, nonsense on April 14, 2008 by myscellaneaSome day, I would really like to see a movie where a variety of A- through D-list actors and other people in entertainment are cast into roles completely opposite the way they’re usually typecast. Rowan Atkinson as a super serious ass-kicking hero, Sam Jackson as a mousy bookkeeper, Britney Spears as a…uh…sane person? (Okay, that was way to easy.) Gotta find a spot for Judy Tenuta somewhere. Maybe Bill Cosby as a serial killer? How about Keanu Reeves in as a 7-11 clerk who keeps getting shot, even when no one’s trying to hit him. Yeah, bending the movie’s concept there. Still would be funny as hell. Hmm…who else?
Maybe I’d better stop here. Ever notice how humor gets more sophomoric the later it gets into the evening?
Excellent artist for pinup tattoos
Posted in Uncategorized with tags pinups, tattoos, Tim Harris on April 13, 2008 by myscellaneaFor a period of two or three years, I was completely fixated on getting a tattoo of either some classic pinup art or Bouguereau’s Evening Mood. In the course of doing extensive research on tattoo artists it quickly became apparent that a lot of skin art is total crap. I couldn’t believe what terrible representations of (especially) the human form some “artist” have the temerity to slap onto people’s arms, backs, and literally anywhere else. Don’t get me wrong, though. The majority of well-established tattoo artists do really good work. But it’s a rare thing to find one who’s talented at drawing, then inking, full-length subjects with the correct proportions, capturing physiological subtleties, and getting facial expressions just right. Eliminating those artists who only do B&W work, the only artist I’d trust to put a half-naked woman on me is Tim Harris, of Hope Gallery in New Haven, CT. Check out Tim’s gallery here. Don’t live anywhere near Connecticut? Call the studio to see if they’ll be traveling to any of the various shows around the country.
One of the best Tim Harris pieces (IHMO)
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Tim’s senior an much-revered artist Joe Capobianco. Joe’s work is definitely top-flight and among the best in the world.

We’ve got a GREAT instructor for Organic Chem II, and he’s letting us split the final exam into two parts. After tonight, we can essentially forget about the stuff we covered earlier in the semester. Cool, huh?
Still, I’m pretty intimidated by tonight’s exam.
